A native-born Floridian from Miami, Barbie grew up in Key Biscayne on the Matheson Estate, the historic Douglas Entrance and Coral Gables.  Barbie received her Master's Degree in Education and certification in Gifted Education from Florida International University (FIU).   After college, Barbie pursued a teaching career.  This enabled her to travel during the summers to many exotic places and to share her photographs with students acquainting them with fascinating world cultures and teaching tolerance for other ways of life. She dreamed of joining the ranks of National Geographic,  since their work had inspired a penchant for photography and life journaling.

Today, having recently retired from a 35-year teaching career, Barbie is now pursuiing her other passion, photo art creating a fresh perspective and a different way of looking at the everyday, the beauty and designs of nature, wildlife, oceans, doors, other cultures...capturing life's art and nature's beauty on the canvas that awaits us.
